Daily Imroz

Editorial Policy

This policy explains how Daily Imroz gathers, writes, checks and publishes the news. It applies to every story on this website.

1. Sources

  • We report from official sources and from our own reporting. Official sources include government and ministry press releases, the Press Information Department, the armed forces' media wing, state news agencies, sports governing bodies and official agencies of foreign governments.
  • We do not reproduce or rewrite stories from other news outlets.
  • Every story names its original source in the first paragraph. When a release is issued by one body and distributed by another, such as a ministry statement carried by the Press Information Department, we credit the body that issued it.
  • When a source is run by a government, we identify it as such. We report its claims as claims, not as established fact.
  • On conflicts and disputes, we attribute casualty figures, military claims and accusations to whoever made them. Where another party has given its own account, we include it.

2. How stories are written

  • We use an AI writing assistant to prepare first drafts from official material. It is told to report only the facts in the source, to write in its own words and to follow Associated Press style.
  • Our software checks every draft for wording copied from the source and returns any draft that copies too much.
  • A named editor checks every story before it is published. That means names, titles, figures and dates against the original; the headline and summary; and the attribution. No story is published without a named editor. The editor's name appears on every story.
  • Background added to a story is limited to well-established context that the editor can verify.

3. Style

We write in the style of the Associated Press. The first sentence says what happened, and the source is credited once, at the end of it. Quotes are short, exact and attributed. We avoid opinion, praise, speculation and sensational language in news stories.

4. Our own reporting

When we report a story ourselves, we name our sources wherever we can. We use anonymous sources only when the information is important, cannot be obtained on the record and has been approved by an editor. We then say why the source was not named.

5. Photographs and embedded posts

  • We use photographs only when we have the right to: photos released by the official source for publication, our own photos, or photos supplied with permission. We do not use agency photos we have not licensed. Every photo carries a credit and a description for readers who use screen readers.
  • When no suitable photo is available, we show a Daily Imroz title card instead.
  • When we embed a social media post, it comes from an official or verified account and is shown as published.

6. Links

We link to the original source of every story where it is available online. Links to other websites are not endorsements.

7. Independence and advertising

Advertisers and sponsors have no influence on our news coverage. Paid content, if we ever publish any, will be clearly labelled "Sponsored". We do not accept payment to publish, change or remove news stories.

8. Corrections

We correct mistakes promptly and openly. See our Corrections Policy.
