Bestway brings Geely to Pakistan, unveils three new energy vehicles

Bestway Group has entered Pakistan's automotive market by launching Chinese carmaker Geely Auto, unveiling three new energy vehicles: the EX2 compact electric hatchback, the EX5 electric SUV and the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid SUV.
Bestway Automotive will serve as Geely's sole authorised distributor in the country, Bestway Group Managing Director Irfan Muhammad Shaikh said at the launch event, describing the move into automobiles as a strategic extension of the group's long-term investments in Pakistan.
Geely will initially sell imported units while Bestway readies a 24.71-acre facility at Port Qasim, Karachi, for completely knocked-down (CKD) assembly. The site has more than 403,000 square feet of covered area and an existing capacity to assemble up to 25,000 vehicles a year. The company aims to have locally assembled Geely cars on Pakistani roads next year.
On after-sales and ownership, Bestway plans a nationwide dealership network and has proposed a warranty of up to six years or 150,000 km on the vehicle and eight years on the battery and motor. Customers will be able to book online and access financing through United Bank Limited (UBL), while a countrywide EV charging network is to be set up by Bestway Renewable Technologies.
Prices, booking dates and final specifications have yet to be announced.
The London-based Bestway, founded as a retailer in 1976, now has more than 63,000 employees across wholesale, cement, banking, renewable energy and other businesses, with annual revenue of $7.9 billion. In Pakistan, it owns Bestway Cement, the country's largest cement maker with a capacity of 15.3 million tonnes, which runs 115 MW of captive solar power, and holds a major stake in UBL.
Geely Holding Group, established in 1986, sold around 4.12 million vehicles worldwide in 2025, of which 2.29 million, or 56 percent, were new energy vehicles. Its stable includes Volvo Cars, Polestar, Lotus, Zeekr and Lynk & Co, and it is targeting global sales of 6.5 million units by 2030.
Geely arrives as Pakistan's car market recovers, with passenger car sales rising 39 percent year-on-year to 155,631 units in FY2026.
