Four-Nation Group Blames Israeli Occupation for Regional Instability
Foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan say Israeli occupation is primary source of instability in the region
The Israeli occupation is the main cause of instability in the region and beyond, according to foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan.
They made this statement during a meeting in Istanbul on Friday, the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported.
The ministers emphasized the need for immediate implementation of a two-state solution, in line with United Nations resolutions.
They expressed support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and statehood, based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital. The ministers also called for an end to Israeli violence, attempts to change Jerusalem's status, and further destruction in Palestine.
The group condemned Israeli colonial activities in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, as well as violence against Palestinians by Israeli settlers. They stressed the need for uninterrupted humanitarian aid and Gaza's reconstruction.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been a longstanding issue in the Middle East, with multiple attempts at peace negotiations.
The two-state solution, which envisions an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel, has been a cornerstone of international efforts to resolve the conflict.
The conflict has resulted in significant humanitarian suffering and displacement of Palestinians, with the Gaza Strip being a major point of contention. The international community continues to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
