Houthi Missile Attack Kills Girl, Wounds Eight in Yemen's Taiz
A Houthi militia missile attack on a residential complex in central Taiz killed a girl and wounded eight people, including women and children.
A girl was killed and eight people injured, including women and children, in a Houthi militia missile attack on a residential complex and populated neighborhoods in central Taiz on Tuesday, the news agency of Yemen's internationally recognised government Saba (Government) reported.
The militia fired a Katyusha rocket from Mount al-Waash, north of Taiz Governorate, striking the densely populated Sina'a area, Saba news agency of Yemen's internationally recognised government said in a statement.
A medical source said the attack killed the girl and wounded eight people, some in critical condition. Two houses were completely destroyed.
In a separate attack, Houthi militias targeted an ambulance with a mortar shell while it was transporting an 18-year-old woman, Taiba Abdulraqeeb, who had been shot by the militia. The attack killed Taiba, the ambulance driver, and wounded an accompanying doctor, and destroyed the ambulance.
The Houthi militia's attacks on residential areas and medical facilities have been a recurring concern in the ongoing conflict in Yemen. The conflict has caused widespread humanitarian suffering, with civilians often bearing the brunt of the violence.
Yemen has been embroiled in a civil war since 2015, with the Houthi militia, backed by Iran, fighting against the government, which is supported by a Saudi-led coalition. The conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths, injuries, and displacement of civilians, as well as significant damage to infrastructure and the economy.
