Iran Rules Out Nuclear Talks Until US Builds Trust

Iran will not negotiate with the US on its nuclear program until Washington takes steps to build trust, a top Iranian official said.

Iran will not engage in nuclear negotiations with the United States unless Washington takes concrete steps to regain Tehran's trust, a senior Iranian official said, according to the state-run IRNA news agency.

"Even one gram of enriched uranium will not be removed from Iran" until all of Iran's conditions are met, the official said.

The comments reflect a hardened stance by Iran ahead of any potential talks on its nuclear program.

The US and Iran have been at odds over Tehran's nuclear ambitions for years. Iran's nuclear program has been a point of contention between the two nations since the 2015 nuclear deal, which was brokered by world powers but unraveled after the US withdrew from the agreement in 2018.

The Iranian government views the US as untrustworthy and has insisted that Washington must demonstrate a genuine commitment to re-establishing trust before any meaningful dialogue can take place. "Until the United States takes steps to build trust, no negotiations will take place," the official said.

The Iranian nuclear program has significant implications for regional and global security, with many countries closely watching developments in Tehran.

The development comes on the same day as Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is visiting the country to meet its top military and civilian leadership.

According to the news agency, Munir called on President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
