Iran says two-day plan to end war still stands, warns US
Iran's foreign minister urged Washington to meet Tehran's conditions and warned of a strong military response if US attacks resume.
Tehran's two-day proposal to end the war remains on the table, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday, Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu Agency reported.
Araghchi urged the White House to meet Iran's conditions and warned of a military response if Washington resumes attacks.
Writing on the social media platform X, he said American voters had made their choice and that the White House should now make its own, referring to Tuesday's US midterm elections.
"Our 2-day proposal stands," he said, adding that Washington must meet the requirements, including an end to the war on all fronts.
He warned that if Washington chose war, Iran's forces would "rain down hell," Araghchi said.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said in an earlier statement that Tehran's seven-step proposal, first put forward in September, remained the basis for indirect talks with Washington.
Baghaei said the proposal had been condensed so that it could be implemented within two days.
Qatar, which has been mediating between Washington and Tehran, denied reports on Saturday that the two sides had failed to reach a deal.
The US midterm elections are held in the middle of a presidential term and determine which party controls seats in Congress.
