Israeli forces detained two olive harvesters following a colonist attack in the Shaab al-Butum area of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

The incident occurred on Monday evening when colonists assaulted farmers from the al-Najjar family while they were picking olives. The attackers attempted to prevent the farmers from continuing their harvest, the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) said in a statement.

Israeli forces then raided the area and arrested two farmers. According to local sources, areas south of Hebron, particularly Masafer Yatta, witnessed a series of similar attacks by colonists and Israeli forces on Monday. These attacks resulted in the detention of five farmers and the theft of large quantities of olives, agricultural equipment, and money.

The detained farmers were from the al-Najjar family, who were targeted while harvesting olives. Local sources provided the information to WAFA.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has led to ongoing tensions in the region, with incidents like these contributing to the complex situation. The West Bank has seen frequent clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian residents, as well as attacks by Israeli settlers.

Olive harvesting is a crucial activity for many Palestinian families, providing them with a significant source of income. Attacks on farmers and the theft of their produce exacerbate the economic challenges faced by these communities.
