Molineux-Led Renegades Aim for Strong WBBL Finish
Australian skipper Sophie Molineux leads Renegades into final WBBL campaign with star-studded lineup and new coach Gavan Twining, Cricket Australia said.
The Melbourne Renegades, led by Australian captain Sophie Molineux, will play their final Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) campaign under their current name, with a strong squad and new coach Gavan Twining, Cricket Australia said in a statement.
The team features a mix of Australian and international players, including Georgia Wareham, Hayley Matthews, and Deandra Dottin. Molineux said the team wants to play aggressive cricket with a bit of edge, and has assembled a squad with quick bowlers, big hitters, and world-class spinners.
The Renegades finished just outside the top four last season and have made some changes to their lineup, with five players departing and four new players joining. Molineux and Wareham are looking to send off the 'Renegades' name with a strong performance.
The team's new coach, Gavan Twining, is also an assistant coach for the Australian team. The Renegades have a strong record in the WBBL, having won the title in 2024. This season, they will be without some key players, including Alice Capsey and Sarah Coyte, who have joined other teams.
The Renegades' final campaign under their current name will be closely watched, especially with the sale of the team's licence expected to be completed by next season.
