Pakistan and Bangladesh agreed on the need to look for fresh openings for industrial cooperation on Monday, Radio Pakistan reported.

The talks were held in Islamabad between Haroon Akhtar Khan, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, and a Bangladeshi delegation headed by Finance Adviser Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir.

Haroon Akhtar Khan named solar technology, battery manufacturing, electric vehicles and wider industrial development as areas with strong potential for joint work.

He said the two countries could benefit from industrial partnerships, the transfer of technology, joint ventures and adding more value to their products.

The adviser also placed export-led growth, expansion of manufacturing and higher industrial productivity at the centre of efforts to deepen economic ties.

Titumir described bilateral relations as brotherly and voiced goodwill towards Pakistan and its people.

He said closer engagement between the two governments could open new opportunities for both sides and pointed to room to widen economic and industrial cooperation.

Ties between Islamabad and Dhaka have grown warmer in recent years, with both governments seeking to expand trade and investment links.

Solar power and electric vehicles have attracted rising interest across South Asia, as governments try to reduce energy imports and strengthen their manufacturing bases.
