Pakistan pledges to boost exports and ease doing business
Bilal Azhar Kayani urged exporters, especially small and medium-sized firms, to make full use of the Export Facilitation Scheme.

The government is committed to boosting the export sector and making it easier to do business, Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani said on Tuesday, the state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported.
Kayani made the remarks while chairing a consultative meeting of the Prime Minister's Committee to Review the Export Facilitation Scheme in Islamabad.
He urged small and medium-sized enterprises involved in exports to take full advantage of the scheme.
Kayani directed the relevant authorities to clarify and simplify the rules governing the import of capital goods and manufacturing machinery for exporters.
During the session, the committee reviewed several proposals in detail to streamline the scheme, improve its efficiency and align it with changing trade conditions.
The meeting also carried out an in-depth review of amendments intended to reduce export overheads, encourage local value addition and stimulate domestic manufacturing.
The meeting ended with agreement to keep consulting all stakeholders and trade bodies to drive export growth and speed up national economic activity, the report said.
The Export Facilitation Scheme is a government mechanism meant to support exporters, and the Prime Minister's Committee was formed to review how it works.
Exports are a key source of foreign exchange for Pakistan, so measures that cut costs and delays for exporters are closely watched by businesses and trade bodies.
