Pakistan is set to launch its first astronaut into space from China's space centre on November 25. This mission is part of the country's broader ambitions in space exploration, with a target of achieving a lunar landing by 2035, the Press Information Department (PID) said in a statement.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the significance of cooperation with China in advancing Pakistan's space exploration capabilities. He also emphasized the importance of space technology in various sectors such as agriculture, communications, climate monitoring, education, and national security.

The minister recently addressed the concluding ceremony of World Space Week in Narowal, where he underscored the need for scientific research and space exploration to drive technological advancement and knowledge. He noted that the Holy Quran encourages reflection on the universe, promoting scientific curiosity among young people.

Ahsan Iqbal also pointed out that Muslim scholars have a history of contributing to astronomy and scientific discovery. He called for renewed efforts to restore Pakistan's leadership in knowledge and research. The minister congratulated the University of Narowal on securing first position at the Islamabad Science Festival, citing it as an example of the country's youth talent and potential.

The University of Narowal's achievement reflects the impact of improved access to higher education, which has enabled students to achieve distinction despite previous financial barriers. Ahsan Iqbal announced plans to establish Pakistan's first Space Museum at the University of Narowal to promote scientific awareness and inspire the next generation to pursue space science and technology.

Pakistan's space program has been gradually expanding, with various initiatives aimed at promoting space exploration and scientific research. The country has been working to enhance its capabilities in space technology, with a focus on collaboration with international partners like China.

The space program is expected to contribute to the country's socio-economic development, particularly in areas such as agriculture, communications, and education. It also aims to inspire young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
