Pakistan and the United States are in talks to boost their economic partnership, with a focus on trade agreements and investment opportunities, the Press Information Department (PID) said in a statement.

The discussions, led by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker, covered areas such as agriculture, minerals, technology, and investment.

Khan emphasized Pakistan's commitment to expanding trade with the US, citing potential for growth in areas like mangoes and dates.

The two sides reviewed progress on a proposed trade agreement, with Secretary Commerce Jawad Paul noting significant progress on several provisions.

However, a few technical issues need to be resolved with the US Trade Representative's office.

Pakistan is seeking greater access to the US market for its agricultural products, while the US is interested in exporting cotton and soybeans to Pakistan.

The meeting also touched on investment opportunities in Pakistan's mineral sector and the potential for American companies to contribute technical expertise.

Khan invited US businesses to participate in FoodAg 2026 in Karachi, a major agricultural exhibition.

The US delegation welcomed the discussion and expressed interest in facilitating greater engagement between American agricultural technology companies and Pakistani businesses.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of Pakistan's commitment to developing a strong economic partnership with the US.

Pakistan's economic partnership with the US is crucial for its growth, especially in areas like agriculture and minerals.

The two countries have a long-standing trade relationship, with the US being one of Pakistan's largest trading partners.

The talks are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
