The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken disciplinary action against four Inland Revenue Service (IRS) officers for misconduct, the Press Information Department (PID) said in a statement.

Two officers, one in BS 20 and the other in BS 19, have been suspended, while two others in BS 20 have been repatriated to FBR Headquarters for further investigation.

The action was taken after the officers issued an unauthorized press statement and called for a stop to official work. According to the FBR, this conduct violates Rules 23 and 26 of the Civil Servants (Conduct) Rules, 2026, and constitutes misconduct under Rule 34.

The FBR said it cannot tolerate such behavior and will initiate disciplinary proceedings under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.

The Civil Servants Act, 1973, and the Civil Servants (Conduct) Rules, 2026, govern the behavior of government officials in Pakistan.

The rules outline the expected standards of conduct and provide a framework for disciplinary action against officials who violate these standards.

The FBR plays a crucial role in Pakistan's tax administration and revenue collection.

As a key institution, it is essential that its officials maintain the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

The disciplinary action taken against the IRS officers demonstrates the FBR's commitment to upholding these standards and ensuring that its employees adhere to the rules and regulations governing their conduct.
