The Palestinian Foreign Ministry is following up on two boat incidents off the Greek islands of Lesvos and Samos, where Palestinians from Lebanon and Syria went missing while attempting to reach the islands two days ago, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported, the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) said in a statement.

The Ministry stated that Palestinian embassies in Greece and Lebanon have been in contact with Greek authorities and the families of the missing persons since they were first reported. The Palestinian Embassy in Athens has contacted the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum and the Hellenic Coast Guard Directorate to follow up on developments.

Yusuf Dargham, the Hellenic Coast Guard Directorate confirmed the recovery of four bodies from the sea near Lesvos and one near Samos, which belonged to Palestinians and were among those yet to be identified, Palestine's Ambassador to Greece said.

The Ministry noted that Ambassadors Dargham and Mohammed al-Asaad are working with the victims' families to complete legal procedures for issuing death certificates and arranging the transfer of the bodies to Lebanon and Syria.

The Ministry warned all Palestinians and families to refrain from irregular migration, citing the catastrophic risks it poses to their lives. These procedures will take time according to Greek regulations.

Irregular migration has been a significant issue in the region, with many attempting to cross into Europe via Greece. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry's efforts to assist those affected demonstrate its concern for the welfare of Palestinians abroad.

The incidents highlight the risks faced by migrants attempting to reach Europe through irregular means. The European Union has been working to address migration challenges and provide support to those affected.
