Qatar Airways to Launch Direct Flights to Western Sydney in 2027

Qatar Airways will start direct flights from Doha to Western Sydney International Airport in December 2027, Qatar's state news agency QNA reported. The airline will operate three weekly flights on the route using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, Qatar News Agency (QNA) said in a statement.
The new service will be Qatar Airways' seventh gateway in Australia, alongside Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra. The flights will offer 42 Business Class and 312 Economy Class seats, with free Starlink Wi-Fi available to passengers.
The new route is part of Qatar Airways' expansion plans in Australia and will complement its partnership with Virgin Australia. The partnership aims to support additional network development opportunities and enhance access to international destinations for Australian travellers.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Hamad Al Khater said the new route will link Western Sydney directly with Doha and, through Hamad International Airport, with over 170 destinations worldwide. This will strengthen existing ties and create new opportunities for trade, tourism, and investment between Australia, Qatar, and the wider world.
Qatar Airways has been expanding its presence in Australia in recent years. The airline's partnership with Virgin Australia, announced in 2020, allows the two carriers to codeshare on each other's flights and offers reciprocal frequent flyer benefits.
The addition of Western Sydney International Airport to Qatar Airways' network reflects the growing importance of Western Sydney as a major hub in Australia. The airport is expected to play a significant role in the country's aviation landscape, with plans to serve millions of passengers in the coming years.
