Qatar and France Strengthen Ties on Defense, Energy, and Middle East Peace

Qatar's Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and French President Emmanuel Macron held talks in Doha, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening historic ties in defense, security, energy, economy, and culture, Qatar's state news agency QNA reported, Qatar News Agency (QNA) said on Thursday.

The leaders discussed regional and international issues, including the escalation in the region, freedom of navigation, and energy security. 

They condemned Iranian military attacks on countries in the region, breaching international law. Both sides supported efforts to address the threats posed by Iran's nuclear program and praised Qatar's mediation efforts.

The Amir and Macron expressed support for the two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state living side by side with Israel in peace and security. 

They opposed any annexation of the West Bank and called for an end to Israeli settlement policies and settler violence. 

The leaders also discussed the situation in Lebanon, Libya, Syria, Sudan, and Yemen, reaffirming their support for stability and UN-led political processes in these countries.

The two countries highlighted the importance of reforms, particularly economic and financial ones, in Lebanon and reaffirmed their intention to continue providing humanitarian aid to the civilian population. 

They also underscored the importance of strengthening equitable and strategic partnerships with African countries, contributing to the sustainable development of the African continent.

Qatar and France have a long-standing relationship, with cooperation in various fields, including energy, defense, and culture. 

The visit by President Macron aims to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss regional and global issues of mutual concern.

The Middle East has been a region of high tensions, with conflicts in Syria, Yemen, and Palestine, and Qatar and France have been working together to promote peace and stability.

Their cooperation is seen as crucial in addressing the challenges facing the region.
