Saudi Arabia's air defenses successfully intercepted a drone that attempted to target a facility at the Shaybah oil field, operated by Aramco in the Eastern Province, Qatar's state news agency QNA reported.

The incident occurred on Wednesday and resulted in a fire in a vehicle belonging to a contractor working at the field, outside the facility's perimeter.

Fortunately, the incident did not disrupt operational activities at the oil field. The authorities responded promptly and took necessary measures to address the situation.

Two expatriate residents, one from the Philippines and the other from Nepal, were killed in the incident. Additionally, two others, one from Pakistan and the other from India, were injured, Qatar News Agency (QNA) said in a statement.

The Shaybah oil field is a significant oil production site in Saudi Arabia, operated by the state-owned oil giant Aramco.

The field is located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and plays a crucial role in the country's oil production.

The incident highlights the ongoing security concerns in the region, particularly with regards to drone attacks on critical infrastructure such as oil fields.

Saudi Arabia has been a target of several drone attacks in recent years, often claimed by Yemen's Houthi rebels.
