South Africa Keep Hope Alive Against Australia in World Test Championship
South Africa's batting coach Ashwell Prince says his team still has a chance to win against Australia in the ICC World Test Championship despite a rain-hit start.
South Africa's hopes of winning the ICC World Test Championship match against Australia remain alive, despite the Proteas being 97/5 at stumps on day two in Gqeberha, the International Cricket Council (ICC) reported.
Rain has disrupted much of the first two days, with only 43 overs bowled, leaving South Africa with a long way to go to stay in contention for the win and the three-game series.
However, batting coach Ashwell Prince believes there is still time for his team to force a result.
Prince attributed the challenging conditions to the weather, noting that the pitch was softer than usual due to moisture and rain.
He suggested that if the sun comes out, the ball may move around faster, making it difficult for both teams.
South Africa's skipper, Temba Bavuma, has been the only batsman to show comfort in the difficult conditions, remaining unbeaten at 41 not out.
Prince praised Bavuma's decision-making, saying it has been exceptional so far.
The first Test between the two teams was played in Durban from October 9-13, with Australia winning by 214 runs.
The ICC World Test Championship is a premier international cricket competition, featuring the top nine Test-playing nations.
The tournament aims to promote Test cricket and provide a competitive and exciting format for fans.
