At least 351 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since a ceasefire was announced in October 2025, according to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

In the past six days alone, eight children have been killed and 20 others injured, UNICEF's Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Edouard Beigbeder, said.

He urged Israeli authorities to ensure accountability in cases where children are killed or sustain injuries resulting in permanent disabilities.

Beigbeder described the level of violence against children as "unacceptable" and called on Israel to take effective measures to deter further violence and uphold international humanitarian law.

The agency also reported that around 800,000 children in Gaza remain displaced, while an estimated 60,000 have lost one or both parents during the war or since the ceasefire.

Nearly every child in Gaza requires mental health support amid continued displacement and the deterioration of essential services, UNICEF stressed, the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported.

The Gaza Strip has faced significant challenges in recent years, including ongoing conflict, displacement, and a deteriorating healthcare system.

The region has been under Israeli blockade since 2007, leading to widespread poverty and unemployment.

The situation for children in Gaza is particularly dire, with many facing difficulties accessing basic necessities like healthcare, education, and clean water.

The international community has expressed concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, with many calling for a lasting resolution to the conflict.

The UN has repeatedly urged parties to the conflict to protect civilians, particularly children, and to respect international humanitarian law.

The situation in Gaza remains a pressing concern for humanitarian organizations and the international community at large.
