Yemen's Ambassador to Türkiye, Mohammed Tareq, held talks with Ahmed Demirer, Director General of the Middle East Department at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Ankara on Thursday, officials said.

They discussed bilateral relations, cooperation, and the latest developments in Yemen, the news agency of Yemen's internationally recognised government Saba (Government) reported.

Ambassador Tareq briefed Demirer on Yemen's current political and security situation, highlighting the Houthi militia's actions that undermine peace efforts and threaten regional and international security, as well as maritime navigation. He expressed appreciation for Türkiye's support for Yemen's security, stability, and sovereignty.

'Commitment for full support'

Demirer reaffirmed Türkiye's commitment to supporting Yemen's security, stability, and sovereignty. The two officials emphasized the strong fraternal relations between Yemen and Türkiye.

The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts to address the complex security situation in Yemen, where the Houthi militia has been involved in a longstanding conflict. Türkiye's support for Yemen is seen as part of its broader engagement in regional diplomacy.

Yemen has faced significant challenges in recent years, including the impact of the conflict on its economy, infrastructure, and humanitarian situation. The international community has been working to find a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
