Yemen's Shura Council Chairman Dr. Ahmad Obaid bin Daghr met with Kuwaiti Ambassador Falah Al-Mutairi to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation, the news agency of Yemen's internationally recognised government Saba (Government) reported Wednesday.
They reviewed joint cooperation across various fields and the latest developments in Yemen, Saba news agency of Yemen's internationally recognised government said in a statement.
Dr. bin Daghr praised Kuwait's firm stance toward Yemen and its humanitarian, relief, and development assistance. He noted that Kuwait has consistently stood alongside Yemen through various stages and circumstances.
The Chairman commended the role of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, led by Saudi Arabia, in supporting the Yemeni government's efforts to end the Houthi coup and restore state institutions.
Dr. bin Daghr condemned Houthi attacks on civilian facilities and Saudi airports, and called on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states to strengthen solidarity and coordination to defeat the Houthi militias.
The Kuwaiti ambassador reaffirmed the depth of the fraternal and historical relations between the two countries and Kuwait's commitment to continuing its humanitarian and development support for Yemen.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts to address the crisis in Yemen, which has been embroiled in a conflict since 2015. The Houthi militia, backed by Iran, has been fighting the Yemeni government and its allies, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The conflict has resulted in significant humanitarian needs, with millions of Yemenis requiring assistance. Kuwait, along with other GCC member states, has played a key role in providing humanitarian and development aid to Yemen.
