Israel Designates 182.81 Dunums of Land in West Bank as 'State Land'
Israel has declared 182.81 dunums of land in Bethlehem and Hebron governorates as 'state land', the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
Israeli authorities have designated 182.81 dunums of land in the West Bank towns of Battir, Sa'ir, and Ash-Shuyukh as 'state land', the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported Monday
This move was made through two declarations signed on Oct 18, 2026, by the official responsible for government and abandoned property in the Israeli occupation's 'Civil Administration'.
The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said this decision is part of a broader strategy to consolidate colonial control over Palestinian land.
The commission noted that such declarations often precede the establishment of settlements and legalization of outposts, followed by measures to reclassify land and provide infrastructure.
This development transforms the physical presence of colonial settlements into more entrenched institutional control, creating land reserves for further expansion at the expense of Palestinian land and its development potential. It deepens the fragmentation of Palestinian geography and imposes de facto annexation.
The West Bank has been under Israeli military occupation since 1967, with ongoing disputes over land ownership and settlement expansion. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains unresolved, with issues like land control and territorial sovereignty being key points of contention.
The designation of land as 'state land' can limit Palestinian access and control over these areas, affecting their economic and territorial development.
This latest move is likely to exacerbate tensions between Israeli authorities and Palestinian communities in the affected regions.
