Kushner says US may bring European allies into Ukraine talks

The wider format would only be considered if progress is made at next week's Abu Dhabi talks involving Russia, the US and Ukraine.

The United States could eventually widen trilateral talks on ending the Ukraine war to include its European allies, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner said on Friday, Russia's state news agency TASS reported.

Writing on X, Kushner said all parties were intensely preparing for substantive and productive negotiations at the trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi next week, which involve representatives of Russia, the US and Ukraine.

Washington would consult closely with its European partners on the sidelines of those talks, he said, and aim for a broader multilateral format with their direct participation if progress is made.

"These ideas continue to evolve, and we welcome thoughtful input," Kushner added.

He said creating the right structure would be critical to ending the war and moving toward a durable peace.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Kushner and US presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff are expected to represent the United States at the Abu Dhabi talks on Nov. 10-11.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Abu Dhabi negotiations would address mutual security guarantees for Russia and Ukraine.

Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky will lead Moscow's delegation, TASS reported.

Peskov previously said European representatives could not take part in the Abu Dhabi talks because a trilateral format had been agreed at the outset.
