Manchester United's Michael Carrick Future Uncertain After Bournemouth Defeat

Manchester United's future as head coach hangs in the balance after a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth, extending their winless run to eight matches, skysports.com reported.

The defeat has piled pressure on Michael Carrick, with the club's hierarchy expected to accelerate the process of finding a replacement.

Sky Sports News understands that United's bosses were already considering alternatives for the head coach role even before the defeat to Bournemouth amid the club's worst-ever start to a Premier League season.

Director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada will make a recommendation to co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe on whether to relieve Carrick of his duties.

Former players Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have called for Carrick to be sacked, with Neville stating it would be "ridiculously difficult" for Carrick to continue as manager.

If Carrick departs, Julian Nagelsmann and Eddie Howe are the frontrunners to take over, with both available to start quickly and not requiring compensation.

Howe was recommended by former sporting director Dan Ashworth and has Premier League experience, while Nagelsmann is well known to United's head of recruitment Christopher Vivell from their time at RB Leipzig.

Unai Emery and Antonio Conte have also been considered, but are not among the current favourites.

Carragher believes Emery should be United's first target, stating he is the best manager in the Premier League.
