The Pakistani Senate has unanimously adopted a resolution affirming its support for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir's right to self-determination, Radio Pakistan reported on Monday.

The resolution, moved by Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam, was passed on the eve of Kashmir Black Day.

It paid tribute to the Kashmiris for their ongoing struggle and sacrifices in pursuit of their right to self-determination.

The Senate emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions, allowing Kashmiris to determine their own future.

The resolution noted that the entry of Indian forces into Kashmir on October 27, 1947, marked a significant turning point in the dispute.

Pakistan reaffirmed its principled position that a lasting settlement of the Kashmir dispute is not possible without respecting Kashmiri aspirations for self-determination.

The Senate expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir and called on the international community to take note of human rights violations in the region.

It also urged the government to continue extending support to the people of Kashmir and to intensify efforts to highlight the dispute globally.

The Senate reiterated its commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people's legitimate struggle for self-determination.

The Kashmir dispute is a longstanding issue between India and Pakistan, with both countries claiming sovereignty over the region.

The United Nations has repeatedly called for a peaceful resolution to the dispute, with Security Council resolutions emphasizing the importance of Kashmiri self-determination.

The Pakistani government's stance on Kashmir is likely to continue to be a key point of contention with India, with implications for regional stability and international relations.
