Pakistan has rejected India's criticism of a resolution on Jammu and Kashmir adopted by the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, the state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said at a media briefing in Islamabad on Friday that Pakistan appreciates the OIC resolution, which reflects the collective stance of its member states on the Kashmir dispute.

The resolution, adopted at the 52nd OIC Council of Foreign Ministers session in Baghdad, rejects India's unilateral measures to alter the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Khan said the OIC's continued support for the Kashmiri people is an important reaffirmation that the Kashmir dispute remains an internationally recognized dispute.

He advised India to fulfill its international obligations, respect the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, and create conditions for a peaceful resolution of the dispute as per UN Security Council resolutions.

The Spokesperson also discussed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, saying that matters related to its ratification and operationalization were discussed during a recent meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have completed their ratification processes, while Türkiye is undertaking the requisite procedure.

The OIC's stance on Kashmir has been consistent over the years, and the organization's support for the Kashmiri people is seen as a significant endorsement of their right to self-determination.

The Kashmir dispute has been a longstanding issue between India and Pakistan, with both countries claiming sovereignty over the region.

The UN Security Council has passed several resolutions on Kashmir, calling for a peaceful resolution to the dispute and emphasizing the importance of respecting the rights of the Kashmiri people.

The international community has been urging India and Pakistan to engage in dialogue to resolve the issue peacefully.
