Pakistan - ARY News

The government has released a notification for the new prices of petroleum products, the Ministry of Petroleum said in a statement on Thursday.

Petrol will remain at Rs377.91 per liter, while diesel has increased by 85 paisa per liter to Rs400.67.

The new prices are effective from midnight and will last for the next 24 hours.

Previously, petrol was increased by Rs1.85 per liter to Rs377.91, and diesel by Rs1.75 per liter to Rs399.82.

The government has also introduced a relief scheme for motorcyclists and car owners, offering a discount of Rs100 per liter for up to 20 liters per month for motorcyclists and 30 liters for 800cc car owners.

To avail of the discount, citizens can register on their mobile by sending a message to 9771 with their CNIC, vehicle registration number, province, and registration date.

After verification, they will receive a token number to collect subsidized petrol at a designated pump.

Background

Pakistan has been struggling with rising fuel prices, which have had a significant impact on inflation and the economy.

The government has been trying to balance the need to increase revenue with the need to protect consumers from high prices.

Impact on Consumers

The new prices will likely have a significant impact on consumers, particularly those who rely on petrol and diesel for their daily commute.

The relief scheme is expected to provide some respite to low-income households and small businesses.
