Pakistan remains open to foreign investment and is willing to share its legal reform experience with international partners, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said on Thursday at a forum in Washington, the state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported.

Tarar represented Pakistan at the Global Law, Justice and Development Forum 2026, which was hosted at the World Bank Group headquarters and drew more than 40 ministers and senior legal leaders from around the world.

During the event, he also took part in a ministerial roundtable on the legal reforms needed to encourage private investment.

Tarar outlined several steps Pakistan has already taken, including the Ease of Doing Business legislation, a One-Window Business Portal and a One-Stop Shop for investors.

He said work is under way on special commercial courts, an arbitration mechanism and a new Arbitration Act, which are intended to resolve commercial disputes more quickly.

The World Bank Group, which hosted the forum, is a multilateral lender based in Washington that provides loans and technical advice to developing countries, including Pakistan, to support economic growth and private sector development.

Business-friendly rules, such as single-window registration systems and clear arbitration procedures, are widely seen by investors as important for judging whether a country is a safe place to commit capital, which is why reform announcements of this kind draw attention in Islamabad.
