Rain collapses wall in damaged Gaza building, wounding two
Heavy rain also flooded thousands of displacement tents across several areas of Gaza, compounding hardship for displaced families sheltering without heating.
Two Palestinians were wounded in northern Gaza on Saturday when rain brought down a wall of a building already damaged by earlier Israeli shelling, Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu Agency reported.
A medical source told Anadolu that the two people were injured in the collapse.
Eyewitnesses said heavy rain flooded thousands of displacement tents near Gaza City's port, west of Deir al-Balah, north of the Nuseirat refugee camp, and in Jabalia and Beit Lahia.
The flooding came as a low-pressure system, accompanied by a cold air mass and heavy rainfall, moved over the Gaza Strip.
The weather has added to the strain on thousands of displaced Palestinians who are sheltering in worn-out tents without heating or adequate protection from rain and cold, the report said.
The report described widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure across the territory during the war.
Since October 2023, the war in Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and wounded over 175,000 others, according to figures cited in the same report.
The war began after Hamas-led attacks on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and has left much of Gaza's housing and public services damaged or destroyed, which has forced most of its population to move repeatedly in search of shelter.
