Russia's Central Bank to Decide on Interest Rate Today

The Bank of Russia's Board of Directors will decide on the key interest rate later today, Russia's state news agency TASS reported.

World - TASS

The Bank of Russia's Board of Directors is set to announce its decision on the key interest rate today.

All 23 experts polled by TASS predict the regulator will maintain the current rate of 14% per annum.

The decision to hold the rate steady is attributed to persistent inflationary pressures, including the secondary effects of rising fuel costs and utility tariff hikes, as well as expected fiscal stimulus towards the end of the year.

At its previous meeting in September, the Bank of Russia kept the key interest rate unchanged at 14% per annum for the first time since June 2025.

The regulator cited an acceleration in underlying price growth, reaching an annualized rate of 5-6%, primarily due to temporary production capacity reductions in certain sectors.

The Russian economy experienced moderate growth in the third quarter of 2026, according to the Central Bank.

While experts expect the interest rate to remain at 14%, some participants suggest a possible 25-basis-point cut, although this is not considered the most likely scenario.

The Bank of Russia's decision will have implications for the country's monetary policy and economic growth.

The Russian economy has been navigating through a challenging environment, with inflation and economic growth being key concerns for policymakers.

The Central Bank's interest rate decisions aim to balance the need to control inflation with the need to support economic growth.
