A ballistic missile launched by Yemen's Houthi group towards Najran in southwestern Saudi Arabia was intercepted and destroyed by the Saudi-led coalition on Thursday. The coalition's spokesman, Maj. Gen.

Turki al-Maliki, announced the successful interception on social media. Fortunately, no casualties or damage were reported immediately after the incident, Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu Agency reported.

The Houthi group had claimed responsibility for launching four missile and drone attacks against targets in Saudi Arabia over the previous 48 hours, according to their military spokesman Yahya Saree. These attacks reportedly targeted facilities in Riyadh, Dammam, Yanbu, and Abha.

The incident is part of a renewed military escalation between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition since July, with both sides engaging in a series of attacks. The Saudi-led coalition has been supporting Yemen's internationally recognized government against the Houthis since March 2015.

The conflict in Yemen has led to a significant humanitarian crisis, with widespread destruction and displacement of civilians. The Saudi-led coalition's intervention aimed to restore the internationally recognized government, while the Houthis have continued to control large areas of the country.

The ongoing conflict has also had a significant impact on the region, with Saudi Arabia and its allies seeking to prevent the spread of Houthi influence and Iran's growing presence in the region.
