Spain's Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gomez has highlighted the need for international cooperation to address growing security threats, Qatar News Agency (QNA) said in a statement.

He made these remarks at the Global Security Forum in Doha, where he emphasized that security threats are increasingly interconnected and require a collaborative response from security institutions, law enforcement agencies, and international organizations.

The minister noted that today's security environment is characterized by overlapping threats, including terrorism, organized crime, cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and hybrid threats.

He called for international cooperation to extend beyond traditional alliances to include operational collaboration among security institutions and law enforcement agencies.

Grande-Marlaska Gomez also stressed the importance of strengthening security institutions' capacity to anticipate risks, innovate, and adapt to evolving threats.

Spain has extensive experience in international police cooperation, combating terrorism and organized crime, and integrated border management, he said.

The minister highlighted the role of technology in enhancing prevention, analysis, and investigative capabilities, while also addressing vulnerabilities created by technology.

He emphasized the importance of cooperation between Europe and the Gulf states in maintaining stability and combating extremism.

Grande-Marlaska Gomez reaffirmed Spain's commitment to international cooperation and strengthening ties among Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Gulf.

The Global Security Forum has established itself as a leading platform for dialogue among policymakers, experts, and professionals in the fields of security and defense worldwide.

The forum's theme this year, 'The Future of Alliances,' is particularly timely given the current international landscape.

Regional conflicts, humanitarian crises, population displacement, and economic pressures contribute to instability and create vulnerabilities that criminal and extremist groups can exploit.

No country can confront the challenges of the 21st century alone, the minister said.

He valued Qatar and the growing cooperation between the security institutions of the two countries.

The future of alliances depends on the ability to address shared threats, he concluded.
