Tshisekedi said no evidence has been made public from the searches and that he has hired lawyers to respond.

Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi on Sunday denounced Belgian property raids linked to his family as a deliberate plot, Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu Agency reported.

In a video released by his office, Tshisekedi accused political opponents of running a smear campaign against him to damage his image.

He spoke to members of the Congolese diaspora in Russia and said no incriminating evidence has been made public since the searches.

"I am waiting to be told what was found during these searches," he said.

Tshisekedi rejected the allegations and said he has already hired a team of lawyers to respond to them.

He also claimed that those responsible for plundering the region's mineral wealth are well known.

The remarks came about two weeks after Belgian police searched several properties in Brussels and the provinces of Flemish Brabant and Walloon Brabant as part of a money laundering investigation.

Media reports said the probe involved family members and associates of Tshisekedi, and it was his first public comment since the raids.

The searches followed a judicial investigation opened at the federal prosecutor's request after non-governmental organizations filed complaints in July 2025.

The probe concerns allegations of money laundering involving Congolese mining revenues.
