Namibia beat Ireland to win first ODI series against Full Member
Namibia's Gerhard Erasmus was named Player of the Series after scoring 263 runs and taking four wickets across the five matches.
Namibia beat Ireland by five wickets in Windhoek on Sunday to win the five-match ODI series 3-2, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.
The win was Namibia's first bilateral ODI series victory over a Full Member nation.
Pace bowlers JJ Smith and Jack Brassell took seven wickets between them to dismiss Ireland for 129 in the final match.
Opener Louren Steenkamp made 42 and captain Gerhard Erasmus added 30, allowing Namibia to complete a straightforward chase.
Erasmus was named Player of the Series for scoring 263 runs and taking four wickets across the five matches.
Smith was named Player of the Match in the decider after figures of 4/20 from nine overs.
Only four Ireland batters reached double figures in the final game, and captain Lorcan Tucker said his side was bitterly disappointed.
"Credit to Namibia, they played diligent cricket," Tucker said.
Tucker added that his team had learned a lot and had much to reflect on before its next matches.
The series results were Ireland winning the first ODI by 55 runs, Namibia taking the second by 31 runs, Namibia winning the third by 63 runs, Ireland taking the fourth by 130 runs, and Namibia winning the fifth by five wickets.
Ireland have already secured a place in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier through their position in the ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings, the ICC said.
Namibia will likely need to earn their place through the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off.
The 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup is being co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
