French authorities have condemned an attack by Israeli settlers on diplomats in the Palestinian village of al-Taybeh, northeast of Ramallah, the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA)  said Sunday.

The French Foreign Ministry spokesperson said France strongly disapproved of the assault, which targeted the French mayor of Aulnoye-Aymeries and representatives of several diplomatic missions, including the French Consul General in Jerusalem and his Belgian and Polish counterparts.

France has urged Israel to take immediate action to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice. The French government has also expressed its support and solidarity with the diplomats who were targeted and reaffirmed its commitment to their mission.

Israeli authorities must take all necessary measures to prevent such acts of intimidation and ensure the security of civilians and diplomatic missions, as required by international law, the French Foreign Ministry said.

The incident has also prompted France to reiterate its criticism of Israeli settlement policy, describing it as a serious violation of Palestinian rights and a threat to stability in the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been a longstanding issue, with the international community repeatedly calling for a two-state solution. The conflict has resulted in numerous incidents of violence and intimidation, including attacks on diplomatic missions and civilians.

The French government's stance on the issue reflects its commitment to upholding international law and promoting peace and stability in the region.
