KARACHI: The Hindu community in Karachi celebrated the Navratri festival with great devotion and enthusiasm at the Shri Rataneshwar Mahadev temple in Clifton on Friday night, according to Independent Urdu reported.

Navratri is an important Hindu festival, where nine different avatars of Mata Durga are worshipped. Devotees observe a fast and perform special prayers during this period. Traditional Garba and Dandiya Raas dances are also part of the festival celebrations.

A visitor from Quetta, Jagdish Kumar, said that Navratri is celebrated twice a year and holds great significance in Hinduism. "In religious traditions, Mata Durga appeared to eliminate Mahishasura and other demons," he said.

Another participant, Karn Sunil, said that devotees visit temples, offer prayers, and perform rituals during Navratri. "People pray for everyone's happiness with devotion," he added.

The festival celebrations include cultural activities such as Garba and Dandiya Raas dances, and culminate in the celebration of Vijayadashami or Dussehra, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
