Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and globally are observing Black Day to draw attention to the ongoing Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, Radio Pakistan, the state broadcaster, reported.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has urged Kashmiris in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and worldwide to observe the day with a complete shutdown in the occupied territory, and has appealed for international intervention in line with UN resolutions.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, protest rallies and seminars will be held at district and tehsil headquarters to condemn the 1947 Indian invasion and the 2019 revocation of the territory's special status.

Deputy Commissioners will lead the rallies in their respective districts, as directed by the AJK President and Prime Minister.

In Muzaffarabad, the Kashmir Liberation Cell has arranged a protest demonstration followed by a rally, to be led by AJK Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani.

Other organizations, including Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiri refugees, and Hurriyat groups, have also planned anti-India rallies and seminars.

The day marks the 1947 invasion of Jammu and Kashmir by Indian troops, which Kashmiris view as an illegal occupation.

The conflict has resulted in significant human rights abuses and displacement, with thousands of Kashmiris killed or detained.

The international community has long called for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute, with the UN advocating for a plebiscite to determine the region's future.
