Lachlan Shaw earns Australia T20 call-up for England series
Sam Harper has also been added to the squad, while Josh Inglis will sit out the series to prepare for the New Zealand Tests.
Australia has added New South Wales wicketkeeper-batter Lachlan Shaw to its T20 squad for the five-match series against England, Cricket Australia said on Monday.
The 23-year-old was named NSW captain for both one-day and first-class matches during Nic Maddinson's Test absence in recent weeks, a rapid rise that has now brought him to the national side.
Fellow wicketkeeper Sam Harper has also been included in the squad, while Josh Inglis will miss the series to prepare for Australia's four-Test series against New Zealand, which starts in December.
Australian selector George Bailey said Shaw "has a powerful game that will impact in the T20 format."
Shaw will join a group of young players that includes Mahli Beardman, Joel Davies, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Mitch Owen.
The Sydney-born batter has played for Australia A and Australia's Under-19s and has been part of the NSW setup since November 2024.
He has scored five half-centuries from nine first-class matches, and his best innings came in 2025, when he made 80 off 67 balls in a one-day match against Victoria.
Before the domestic season began, Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon praised his leadership, saying Shaw had become an important member of the side through his "calm approach and strong game awareness."
Shaw made his Big Bash League debut in BBL|14 for the Sydney Sixers, joining as a local replacement player for Steve Smith, and he scored 32 against Adelaide and an unbeaten 33 against eventual champions Hobart Hurricanes.
He has started the current summer in patchy form, scoring 61 in a Shield match against Western Australia and 45 for NSW in an innings defeat to Tasmania.
The T20 series begins on Nov. 21 at the MCG and runs through five matches, ending on Dec. 2 at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
