Malaysia's PN Coalition to Take Disciplinary Action Against Bersatu
Perikatan Nasional will initiate disciplinary proceedings against Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, Malaysia's national news agency Bernama reported.
Perikatan Nasional will initiate disciplinary proceedings against Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia over actions deemed contrary to the coalition's interests, Malaysia's national news agency Bernama reported Sunday.
The decision was made at a PN Supreme Council meeting, in accordance with Article 15 of the coalition's constitution, which empowers the council to take disciplinary action against any member party or individual found to have acted against PN's interests.
PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the coalition will take the necessary steps under the disciplinary proceedings and formally present the charges to Bersatu.
Bersatu will be given sufficient time to respond to the charges before any further action is taken, he added.
The PN Supreme Council has the authority to issue a warning, suspend, or expel the party or member concerned if they engage in conduct contrary to PN's interests.
Meanwhile, PN has decided to use its own logo in the upcoming 16th Melaka state election, with the number of seats and candidates to be determined through a series of meetings.
The Election Commission has set October 31 for nomination, November 10 for early voting, and November 14 as polling day for the Melaka state election.
The court's decision on October 22 to stay the Registrar of Societies' order suspending PN's activities has enabled the coalition to resume its activities and functions as usual.
Perikatan Nasional is a Malaysian political coalition formed in 2020, comprising several parties including Bersatu, UMNO, and PAS.
The coalition's decision to take disciplinary action against Bersatu comes amid reports of tensions between the parties, with some analysts speculating that the move may be related to differences in their approaches to politics and governance.
