Palestinian Presidency blames Israel for worsening Gaza crisis
The presidency also urged the UN Security Council to open all border crossings to unrestricted humanitarian aid and stop Israeli violations.
Israel bears full responsibility for the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, the Palestinian Presidency said in a statement on Saturday.
The presidency said Palestinians' deprivation of basic necessities stems from Israel's aggressive policies and its obstruction of aid deliveries, as well as its failure to comply with a UN Security Council resolution and US President Donald Trump's Gaza ceasefire plan.
Rainwater has flooded the tents of displaced families as winter approaches, leaving them without safe shelter, heating or basic necessities.
The presidency also held the Board of Peace and its envoy, Nikolay Mladenov, responsible for failing to halt Israeli violations or ensure Israel meets its obligations.
It warned that overlooking these violations would deepen Palestinian suffering and undermine prospects for stability.
The presidency called on the Security Council to take immediate measures to stop Israeli violations, compel the Israeli government to honor its commitments and open all border crossings to humanitarian, medical and relief assistance.
It also called for international protection for the Palestinian people, saying saving lives in Gaza and meeting basic needs must be the immediate priority.
Aid access to Gaza has been a recurring point of dispute throughout the conflict between Israel and Hamas, and humanitarian agencies have repeatedly raised concerns about shelter and supplies for displaced residents.
