The countdown to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 has begun, with Qatar's Local Organizing Committee unveiling the official Tissot Countdown Clock in Doha, Qatar's state news agency QNA reported.

The clock, located at Barahat Msheireb, marks 300 days until the tournament, which will feature 32 national teams and take place from August 27 to September 12, 2027.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including FIBA President Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al-Thani and Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain.

The countdown clock's design reflects basketball's global appeal, with a giant basketball hoop and a front arch inspired by a watch face.

Dr. Ahmad Abdulla Al-Buenain, Director General of the Local Organizing Committee, said the clock's unveiling marks an important milestone in preparations for the tournament.

The committee has signed partnership agreements with five hotels in Doha to provide accommodation services for participating delegations.

Qatar is set to host the 20th edition of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, the first to be staged entirely in one city.

Preparations and Partnerships

The Local Organizing Committee has been working on the event for several years and is now entering the final phase of preparations.

Tissot CEO Sylvain Dolla expressed his delight in being part of the event as the Official Timekeeper.
