Saudi-led coalition claims to have intercepted missiles and drones targeting the kingdom.

World - Express News

The Saudi-led coalition has claimed that it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile and several drones targeting the kingdom, according to Saudi media.

The coalition's spokesperson, Major General Turki Al-Malki, said in separate statements on Friday that the air defense system had neutralized the incoming missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles in recent hours.

The missile was headed towards the coastal city of Yanbu on the Red Sea, while two cruise missiles were intercepted over the Red Sea. Additionally, three drones were destroyed in the southern regions of Saudi Arabia and the Riyadh area, the spokesperson said.

Al-Malki did not provide further details on the possible launch sites, those responsible for the attacks, or any potential damage or casualties.

Yanbu is a significant industrial and oil-exporting city on the Red Sea coast, making the reported missile targeting of the city noteworthy.

There has been no immediate confirmation from Houthi rebels claiming responsibility for the specific missile and drone operations.

The conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthi rebels has escalated in recent days, with Saudi airports and energy facilities coming under attack.
