Turkish seismic vessel to reach Karachi as Pakistan revives offshore exploration
The TPOC ship is due between Nov. 17 and 20, restarting offshore exploration after nearly two decades.

A seismic vessel operated by Turkish Petroleum Offshore Company (TPOC) is expected to arrive in Karachi between Nov. 17 and 20. Its arrival will mark the revival of Pakistan's offshore exploration after nearly two decades, the Petroleum Division said on Friday.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad to review preparations for the ship's arrival and the start of operations.
Malik called the vessel's arrival a milestone in Pakistan-Türkiye relations, particularly after the signing of the Mecca Agreement, and a new chapter in cooperation between the two countries.
"This is a special moment for Pakistan-Türkiye friendship. I will try to personally receive the vessel upon its arrival in Karachi," he said.
The minister said the government was fully committed to facilitating the initiative. He assured the Turkish delegation of Pakistan's full support and said the two countries would work together toward a "landmark success."
The petroleum secretary said the division was looking forward to welcoming the vessel. He stressed coordination among all departments and stakeholders.
TPOC's project manager thanked Pakistani authorities for their support and said he was confident the exploration effort would succeed.
The meeting reviewed operational, logistical, maritime, security and interdepartmental arrangements for the campaign. Departments were told to stay in close contact to keep facilitation on schedule.
Attendees included the managing directors of OGDCL, PPL and GHPL, along with senior Petroleum Division officials. The ministries of foreign affairs, maritime affairs, defence and interior sent representatives. So did the National Hydrographic Office (NAVAREA IX), the Board of Investment and the Directorate General Ports and Shipping, Karachi.
The campaign is expected to strengthen bilateral energy cooperation as Pakistan seeks to boost domestic oil and gas output and cut its reliance on imported fuel.
