Yemen took part in the 23rd regular session of an Arab information ministers' executive body in Cairo on Wednesday, the news agency of Yemen's internationally recognised government Saba (Government) reported.

The meeting was held at the League of Arab States headquarters, and Deputy Minister of Information Salah al-Aqel led the Yemeni delegation.

The agenda covered key Arab media issues, including the Palestinian cause, combating terrorism and misinformation, and the establishment of the Arab Media Observatory.

Participants also discussed digital media development and a unified Arab strategy for dealing with international media platforms.

The session reviewed preparations for the 56th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, with a focus on joint Arab media cooperation and coordinated positions on regional challenges.

Al-Aqel said Yemen remains committed to developing its media sector.

He said the government is working to approve a draft Electronic Media Law to strengthen the digital media environment and keep pace with technological change.

The Council of Arab Information Ministers works under the League of Arab States, which is headquartered in Cairo and groups the region's governments.

Yemen has been divided between the internationally recognised government and Houthi authorities since the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, in 2014, a conflict that has shaped the country's media sector.
