Australia's litchfield eyes comeback in T20I against New Zealand
Australia's Phoebe Litchfield trains ahead of T20I against New Zealand, amid selection squeeze
Phoebe Litchfield is hoping to prove her fitness for the first T20I against New Zealand after training strongly at North Sydney Oval on Saturday, Cricket Australia said in a statement.
Litchfield missed the final ODI against Bangladesh with a low-grade hip muscle strain. Her potential absence could create a re-jig of the batting order and an opportunity for Tahlia McGrath or Alana King to be recalled.
Australia coach Shelley Nitschke said "Phoebe's tracking well" and will continue to be assessed ahead of Sunday's match.
The return of Lucy Hamilton from a quad injury and Megan Schutt's brilliant series against Bangladesh have created a selection headache for the Australian team.
The Rose Bowl T20I series will feature three games across five days, starting on Sunday.
