Dmitriev cited a Financial Times report saying Kushner's comments surprised European officials, then posted his reaction on Instagram.

Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev urged European officials on Saturday not to worry about recent comments by Jared Kushner on possible security agreements in Europe, Russia's state news agency TASS reported.

Dmitriev heads the Russian Direct Investment Fund and serves as the Russian president's special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries.

He posted his message on Instagram, a platform that is banned in Russia and classified there as extremist.

The message read, "Don't worry be happy."

He attached a screenshot of a Financial Times report that quoted sources saying Kushner's comment about potential security deals involving Russia had surprised European officials.

The Financial Times had earlier reported that EU member states oppose using the Ukraine peace talks to discuss a new European security architecture.

The newspaper also reported that European governments fear the administration of US President Donald Trump could strike a deal with Russia at the expense of European security.

Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, wrote on X on Friday that the United States sees potential security agreements in Europe involving Russia including crisis communication channels and greater military transparency.

Kushner has taken part in Washington's efforts to end the war in Ukraine, which began with Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.

European capitals have repeatedly sought a role in any settlement of the conflict, even as the United States leads much of the diplomacy.
