The European Union remains committed to ramping up pressure on Russia and pursuing genuine peace talks, Anadolu Agency reported on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the EU said that the bloc is united in its determination to end Russia's war of aggression and achieve a just and sustainable peace.

The EU's stance follows Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre's discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The European Council has asserted that it will continue to increase pressure on Russia to stop its aggression and engage in meaningful negotiations.

The EU also emphasized the importance of sustained military support for Ukraine, as Russia shows no signs of ending its aggression.

Some European leaders, including Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, have expressed skepticism over individual diplomatic approaches to Moscow.

Frederiksen warned that European countries should maintain a united position and avoid going solo in dealings with Russia.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys also stressed the need for a united European approach in any contacts with Russia.

They emphasized that any engagement with Putin must be backed by a unified position, leverage, and a clear list of European demands.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson reaffirmed his country's support for Ukraine, saying Russia seeks submission, not peace.

The European Union has been a vocal critic of Russia's actions in Ukraine, imposing several rounds of sanctions and providing significant economic and military aid to Ukraine.

The conflict has had far-reaching consequences, including a significant impact on European energy security and the global economy.

What's Next

The EU's commitment to unity and pressure on Russia will likely continue to shape its approach to the conflict, as European leaders navigate complex diplomatic efforts and domestic politics.
