Yemen's ambassador to the Czech Republic, Mohammed al-Hadhrami, met with Czech Parliament Speaker Tomio Okamura to discuss the latest developments in Yemen, the news agency of Yemen's internationally recognised government Saba (Government) reported, Saba news agency of Yemen's internationally recognised government said in a statement.

The ambassador urged the Czech Republic to support international efforts to designate the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization.

He also called for increased humanitarian and development assistance to Yemen, citing the Houthis' recent escalation as a threat to international maritime security and global energy markets, serving Iran's agenda.

The Yemeni government remains committed to countering the Houthis and restoring state institutions, which would help protect international shipping and stabilize global markets, al-Hadhrami said.

Okamura reaffirmed the Czech Republic's support for Yemen's security, stability, and territorial integrity, expressing hope for peace in Yemen and the region.

The conflict in Yemen has been ongoing since 2015, with the Houthi militia controlling large parts of the country. The Yemeni government, supported by Saudi Arabia and other international allies, has been fighting to restore control.

The Houthi militia has been accused of launching attacks on Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as targeting international shipping in the Red Sea.
