Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian received the credentials of Turkey's new ambassador, Ahmet Aydin Dogan, on Tuesday, Turkey's state-run news agency Anadolu Agency reported.

The Iranian presidency said the credentials were presented at an official ceremony in Tehran.

Pezeshkian said Iran and Turkey are growing closer, calling the bond fraternal and describing it as expanding steadily.

Given the tense situation in the region, the two countries must keep cooperating and communicating and strengthen their bilateral ties, Pezeshkian said.

Turning to the wider region, Pezeshkian said Israel is trying to reach its goals by sowing division among Islamic countries.

"Its objectives are not directed at just one country but encompass all Islamic countries," he added.

He argued that such efforts to create division and instability would fail if Muslim nations cooperate with one another.

Pezeshkian also accused Israel of carrying out crimes and genocide with the backing of the United States and some European countries, while much of the international community stayed silent.

For his part, Dogan said he would work to advance cooperation between the two countries and ensure that joint projects are completed.

Iran and Turkey share a long border and have maintained diplomatic and economic ties for decades, although their relations have sometimes been strained by regional disputes.

Ambassadors formally begin their posts once they present their credentials to the head of state of the host country.
