Lance Morris took 3-29 in his return from a 20-month absence with a back injury, as England beat Western Australia by 92 runs on Saturday, Cricket Australia said.

The 28-year-old bowled at speeds of up to 145kph in the 50-over tour match at the WACA Ground, taking three wickets in 10 overs.

His victims included England batter Joe Root, who skied a pull shot to Mahli Beardman.

England coach Brendon McCullum praised the pace bowler's performance.

"Very impressive," McCullum said of Morris.

McCullum said Morris had found his length and used his bounce well after a long time away from the game.

England scored 251, and Western Australia were bowled out for 159 in 32.3 overs.

Western Australia coach Beau Casson said Morris could return to the Sheffield Shield before the Big Bash League starts in December if he gets through the next few weeks without setbacks.

"We're not going to take reckless risks," Casson said.

Casson said Morris, who was close to a Test debut before back surgery, still wants to play Test cricket for Australia.

England paceman Josh Tongue was ruled out of the white-ball tour of Australia with a left toe injury, and he will return to England for further assessment, Cricket Australia said.

Jofra Archer, who missed the recent tri-series in Pakistan, took 3-34 and was described by McCullum as being in good rhythm ahead of the first one-day international on Nov. 13 at Perth Stadium.
